Out to a local sandbar with my brother at low tide, he only bought his first spinning rod a couple of weeks ago and had yet to catch a fish. So we get to the mouth of this estuary and I wade out a bit until waste deep and start casting away, fishing a new top water lure, the savage gear panic prey, which is a pachinko copy but a lot cheaper! Love the action on it, little twitches of the rod and I could see the lure splash on the surface, and it casts a mile too! So anyway we are fishing away and next thing I hear my brother shout "fish on!", brilliant I thought, he has his first bass I thought, so I'm walking towards him and I see that he has a flat fish! I've never seen a flatfish take a plug before lol turns out he had foul hooked it in the tail and you can imagine he thought he had something much bigger.. still turned out to be one of the biggest flounders I've ever seen caught from the shore! He was chuffed to have caught something and it was big enough for the table so it's nice to catch a bit of dinner. We fished for a while after but neither of us caught anything else.
