Who we are

Gonzo Fishing Ireland is a personal sea angling blog run by Shane Buckley in Ireland. For any privacy question, contact us through the details on the About page.

What we collect

  • Account data — if you sign up or sign in (including with Google), we store your email address, display name and authentication metadata.
  • Comments — the content you post, along with the time it was posted and the account it belongs to.
  • Technical data — IP address and sign-in timestamps recorded by our authentication provider for security and abuse prevention.

How we use it

We use this data to run your account, publish and moderate comments, keep the site secure, and fix problems. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising profiling.

Legal basis

Under the GDPR we rely on your consent (account creation and commenting) and on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and functional.

Sharing and storage

Data is stored with our hosting and database providers, who process it on our behalf only. Weather and tide information shown on log entries is fetched from third-party open data services using approximate coastal coordinates, not your location.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time, and you can delete your comments or ask us to remove your account. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
